An urgent request is easier to handle when you know what is ready and what is still missing. Start there, then agree on a response you can support.
An LP has asked for a due diligence questionnaire, or DDQ, in five days. The deadline is specific to this request, not an industry rule. Before you start writing, find out which answers are current, which need reconciling and which need more work. That gives you a realistic basis for the response and any conversation about timing.
Before writing a single answer, take stock of what is genuinely complete against what is not. Pull the data room's current state folder by folder, the track record ledger, the governance documentation, the operational policies, and sort each into actually done, close but not reconciled, or genuinely missing. This sequencing matters because the next steps depend on knowing honestly which category each section falls into, not on assuming everything is closer to done than it is.
A full-looking response is not useful if its figures cannot be traced to evidence. Leave a missing answer visibly open rather than inventing it. If a figure appears in several documents, reconcile it before sending; both people and review tools can surface a mismatch. Give the LP enough context to understand what remains outstanding.
A visible open item tells the reader what still needs work. An unsupported figure hides that information.

Use the same discipline in the DDQ: name the missing item, who is resolving it and a date you can reasonably meet. If you cannot yet commit to a date, say when you will provide an update. The response should make its own state clear.
After delivery, turn the open items into a maintenance list. Assign an owner, record where each answer comes from and set a review cadence. The next request may have a different deadline; having current evidence will still help.
