Florida's venture capital program co-invests alongside private investors in emerging Florida companies rather than operating as a standard state LP commitment.
Florida's SSBCI Venture Capital Program is a direct company-investment route. FloridaCommerce works with the Florida Opportunity Fund and other program partners to support venture capital investments in emerging Florida businesses. The program should be evaluated as a company and financing-round pathway, not as a general fund-of-funds application.
Treasury describes the Florida VCP as co-investing alongside private investors. The program targets emerging Florida companies.
The private investor and round structure are therefore central to the application. A company must show why the round fits the program and how the private capital is participating.
Treasury describes target investments of $5 million or less. The program does not provide investment support for transactions exceeding $20 million.
These figures describe the program's transaction boundaries, not a promise that every eligible company receives the same amount. Florida's broader SSBCI program includes lending and credit-support products, so those products should not be conflated with the venture capital route.
Florida's SSBCI venture program is direct company co-investment. It is not a generic LP commitment to a venture fund.
