Georgia SSBCI venture capital, a fund route and a direct co-investment route

Georgia separates SSBCI capital for venture funds from direct company co-investments, with Invest Georgia managing both routes.

Georgia's SSBCI venture capital structure has two distinct paths. The Georgia Venture Capital Program invests as a limited partner in seed and early-stage venture funds, while the Georgia Equity Direct Program co-invests alongside a lead investor in eligible Georgia businesses.

The fund program is built for seed and early-stage managers

Invest Georgia selects the participating venture funds. The program generally requires at least a 1:1 private capital match at the fund level. SSBCI participation is generally limited to 10% of a fund.

Investment amounts begin at $1 million and may reach $3 million, or up to $5 million for larger funds or special opportunities.

The direct program requires a lead investor

The Equity Direct Program is not a fund commitment. Invest Georgia co-invests alongside a lead investor in qualifying Georgia-based businesses.

A company package therefore needs to show the lead investor, the round structure, the company's Georgia connection, and the reason the investment fits the program.
